THE BREEZY BLOG
Color correcting has always been around but it seems as though every cosmetic line is coming out with liquid, cream, serum & powder corrector products. Since this is "trending" in the industry, it's probably the perfect time to talk about how to use them and if it's better to buy drugstore or high-end. First, you need to know about the color wheel. If you have an art background then you can skip this. Typically we are covering up dark circles under our eyes whether from lack of sleep or just hereditary. Don't forget the redness caused by acne and Rosacea or even pigmentation caused by sun damage. Green corrector is used to neutralize redness. Salmon/Peach corrector is used to cancel out the blue undertone of dark circles. Orange corrector is also used for dark circles but for those with darker skin tones. Yellow corrector is used to brighten areas like under the eyes. Lavender corrector is used to correct any dullness and to brighten as well. Here are a few oldies but goodies as well as new products on the market: Make Up For Ever - Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer - $37.00 They have a full line of primers to correct texture and tone.
High-end or drugstore...you have to evaluate your skin and see what type of corrector you would need (liquid, cream, powder, serum, etc). For example: I use L.A. Pro Orange for clients with dark circles or a salmon-based concealer for fair clients. It's important to only use the corrector where you need it and not all over your face because that will defeat the purpose...which is why I am not a fan of those 3-in-1 products, specifically Stila. I prefer drugstore, they work perfectly in my kit & are super affordable. If you're still interested in high-end & not ready to commit, visit Sephora for some samples. xoxo, Bri
