THE BREEZY BLOG
A few months ago I flew out to Northern California, rented a car and drove down the coast...solo! There was so much more to see in the central coast area so I definitely can't wait to go back. Grab a coffee or some snacks because this is a picture overload for sure! Let's get right into this trip: First stop was the California State Capitol in Sacramento, CA. They had some construction going on and they were putting up the Christmas Tree! I was getting (very) hungry by the time I got to Point Reyes Seashore area so I stopped by this place called Cafe Reyes. They had this cute outdoor area with benches but let's just say I had way to many friends that day by the name of BEES! No worries, I didn't get stung but they were distracting! LOL This cute restaurant is also a supporting member of Marin Organic. The Pizza was yummy and on the way out they offer their guests complimentary Peanut Butter-Chocolate flat cookies...so delicious! Not gonna lie, I wanted to take a few more but I didn't! ;) Driving down the coast, passing through Marin County When in San Fran, one must go to the Golden Gate Bridge. Also, I kept pulling over to take photos! Different plants, waves, cliffs, etc. I made it to Half Moon Bay to watch the sunset! Chilly and peaceful evening. Day #2. First Stop...COFFEE at Aptos Coffee Roasting! Santa Cruz Boardwalk for my morning walk. I've never seen a tent on the beach before! Carmel-by-the-Sea was such a cute little place. I would probably come back to stay at a B&B and get an outdoor massage or facial so I can hear the waves & smell the salt water :) Click on photos below to view gallery: If you're into shopping for overpriced items then this will be your jam! Lol Jokes aside, this place has great art galleries, public art and these gorgeous trees by the water. Stunning views all along Big Sur area! Of course I had to stop by the Bixby Bridge! #touristactivities Click on photos below to view gallery: So the plan was to visit Pfeiffer Beach Sun Portal but I got there too late and they weren't letting anyone else in the parking area. I was so bummed & kept driving only to stumble upon McWay Falls located in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park! I am so glad this happened or else I would have missed one of the highlights of this trip. You can clearly see the beauty in the pictures above! This village has a ton of shops, bakeries and restaurants to choose from. Click on photos below to view gallery: Gaviota State Park - Coastal Entrance This place deserves a blog post alone! I cannot wait to come back and bring everyone I know for some GLAMPING! El Capitan Canyon has safari tents, cabins, hiking trails, coastal access and more! I stayed in a safari tent with a queen bed. The reserved spot came with a bench table, fire pit and a bathroom/shower building shared with several other tents/cabins. There's a screen in the front entrance so you can open up the tarp to see the beautiful nature without getting attacked by flies! Same goes for the "windows" on each side of the tent. The night I stayed here, it happened to be like 35 degrees outside and SUPER windy! This is how dark it was outside at 8pm...like pitch black!! That was the scariest walk to the bathroom building...luckily they do provide flashlights in your tent! Highlight...the stars! I couldn't believe how clear the sky was and how many stars were visible...so beautiful I think I almost cried lol Beautiful outdoors and a great market with gourmet meals! Since it was a chilly night, the front desk offered extra blankets you just had to ask. The tent came with reading chairs, bed, nightstands, lamps, space heater, fan, desk, outlets, towels, toiletries & flashlight. On the last day of the trip I really took my time and drove by Rancho Palos Verdes. The pictures do not even come close to the real thing so if you are in the local area, you must visit and take a look at the breathtaking views! The real reason I stopped RPV was to visit Wayfarers Chapel. First of all the views are incredible. Now, let's take a moment to admire this architecture! There are also gardens and benches surrounding the chapel...the perfect place to meditate. The End...oh wait... I bet you're wondering about the funny car rental story now haha keep reading... I drove down the coast from Point Reyes Seashore to about Malibu area when I realized I had a SUNROOF!! I could not stop laughing! How the heck did I make it to the last day & last few hours of my trip to realize this? This was the perfect trip to have one with Cali's perfect weather & clear skies! Now I know to be more observant! LOL Photos shot on an iPhone 6 & Nikon D3100
